A lunch date with Mom

Today was so nice. I got to see my Mama!!! My work flew me to So Cal for the day for a meeting. It was a nice meeting about Parent Communication. I went with 3 really good friend coworkers. It was cool. The best part was seeing my Mom though. It's like I was rich and flew out to have lunch with her. It was too short, however, I loved it!!! Thanks Mom!!!

Happy Birthday Seth

My brother is 31 today. Hi brother. Happy Birthday. May the force be with you. I love you!~

A request for Grandma

Levi wanted to get an early start on Halloween. He requested that we call Grandma one day to talk costumes. It was very random and funny. He told her that he wanted to be a blue dinosaur and would she please make him a costume?? Grandma fulfilled Levi's request and even made a matching costume for Dylan. Levi is so excited. Thank you Mom~ Levi has informed Matt and I that I (Shannon) am going to be a rooster, and Matt is going to be a giraffe. (No, Mom, we don't need costumes, but thank you... We'll have him use his imagination.)
The result of Levi practicing his dinosaur ROAR on Dylan. Levi is very good!

Ode to the Palm Tree

An original poem by Shannon: Die, palm tree, die.
Your little seeds no more can spread
the endless shoots in our grass so green.
Die, palm tree, die.

So harsh, but so needed.
Always there,
just blowing in the wind,
marking our home.
Endlessly dropping little bombs of palm.
Gone, palm tree, gone.

(The picture you are looking at is of the pile of woodshavings from a palm tree that was HUGE and in front of our house. The palm tree is no more.)

Matt turned 30

I failed to post the big event on the actual day. Matt is 30 years old!! Oh my goodness!! We had a lovely, low key day... perfect for Matt. I think he's fabulous and I love my husband very much. Happy Birthday~

Preschool

Levi started Preschool yesterday. He really likes it. This morning I said, "Levi, you need to get your clothes on." He said, "Why? Where am I going?" I said, "You are going to Preschool." He said, "Again?!??!" As I nodded, he ran off to find Matt and said (very excitedly) "Daddy, Daddy, I get to go to preschool TWO days in a row!" Matt then informed him that he gets to go a lot more than that! Levi was very excited.

Before and After.

I have been wanting a set of hair clippers for a while now. Levi's hair grows SO fast and it constantly needs to be cut. However, he hates the scissors and is afraid I will cut his ear off. Well, today I bought my own hair cutting kit at Target. Yay!! I love it!! Levi got to pick the color attachment that he wanted (it determines the length). The first picture is the before picture. Here is the "After" picture. It was so, so funny!!! Levi looked in the mirror, gasped and said, "I'm a guy now!! I lost all my hair!!" Hilarious!! Then, he went on to analyze the hair status of each of us... "Mommy and Daddy and Dylan have black hair and I have no hair." He keeps wanting to look in the mirror at the new little boy with no hair. Don't worry, next week you won't even be able to tell I just cut it.

Friends

Levi and Dylan just started taking baths together and they absolutely love it!! They splash each other and compare feet (Dylan grabs Levi's alot), and they fight over the toys. They are getting to be such good friends. Dylan always wants to do whatever Levi is doing, and Levi makes sure that Dylan is around too and shows him things. It makes my heart happy.

Can I have some?

If Levi is eating ANYTHING (or any of us, for that matter), Dylan wants it.

Jeepers, Creepers...

There is no doubt that Dylan is Matt's kid. He (Dylan) looks so much like his Daddy. This picture cracks me up. Dylan usually has only this expression on his face. Funny, funnny guys!

Friday: National Talk Like a Pirate Day

Friday is International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Isn't that fantastic? Argh Matey, 'tis! I just wanted you all to know so that you could prepare ahead of time. I will try to get away with wearing my cool pirate costume to work (if I do, I'll post pictures!). Enjoy!

What do you do at work?

I love being in charge of Student Council. It is so much fun!! Below is me in the Tiger head (obviously). Our mascot is a Tiger, and our colors are Orange and Black. However, I've put in plenty of hours in costume from when I was Chuck E at Chuck E. Cheese, so I let my friend Lavina be the mascot. I'm sure we'll share the job!! It's so much fun!!! (and hot!)
That's Lavina!
Go Tigers!!

Exhilarating!

Tonight for our church youth activity we went roller skating! I haven't done that in years!! It was so much fun. I just loved it. Maybe you ought to find your old skates (with 4 regular wheels, or even your inline roller blades) and go for a little ride. I assure you, it'll be worth it!

Little Dyl

Little person is sick. He has an ear infection, a fever, and a cold. He also has Eczema. The doctor was more concerned about that and gave me a brief lecture on lubing up my child. I felt like I got my copay's worth today. (yes, I went to the doctor on Sunday, sometimes you have to do what you have to do.) He has been just miserable and won't sleep for more than an hour and a half (it's hard when you can't breathe.) I just feel so sad for him. Now he has antibiotics, so he should improve. That's what is going on with us.

Family Day Adventure

Can you believe it is already September? Today we went on a family trip to a few scenic places. We went to a place called "Apple Hill' where a bunch of farmers make their ranches tourist attractions and sell a variety of Apple related goodies. We were anxious to try out this very talked about place. While on the drive there, we put Levi in charge of finding apple trees. If it was green and grew out of the ground it was dubbed an apple tree. I don't really know any better and so his 3 year old brain can think whatever he'd like. This is our cute family. I don't know how parents with multiple children get everyone to look at the camera with eyes open and smiles on... I couldn't even make that happen with 2!! That's okay though. We really did have a delightful day together.
This is Levi picking his apple. Yes, he could have picked one off a tree, however, he likes to touch and look at everyone and at the cost to pick them yourself, we weren't about to let him pull a bunch off. He got to select one out of the box behind him. He LOVED it!! I think he looks like a chipmunk. We went to a few different ranches. The best one was called High Hill. We saw Carrie Smith's family from our ward!! They were so kind to let Levi play frisbee with them in a large grassy area. Dylan liked being outside. It was a beautiful day... only 80 degrees or so. (Much better than the 100 from 2 days ago). We really did have a good time.

After our Apple Hill experience, we were fairly close to Matt's Aunt and Uncle's home. We arranged a visit and made it there about an hour (or two) later because we got lost. Who knew there are like 4 roads with the same name in their city??? Kim and Ken were very nice to visit with. They live in the country and have built a very nice home and garage/workspace, etc (I can't really adequately explain it, but it is nice). Levi loved playing with the 3 large dogs. He liked to throw the ball and have them run after it.
Overall it was a wonderful day!
