Old Mac Donald had a...

We were on our way to church today when we passed by a house with a shed that looks like a barn. He said, "Mommy! There's a farm and they have piggies and cows and chickens, but not chicken nuggets."
Yup, you are (hopefully) right Levi... no chicken nuggets.

I like bright things.

Our sweet little Dylan is coming soon and so the fabulous young women in my ward came over to paint the nursery for me since I am not supposed to inhale fumes. (Thank you darling girls!) Matt wanted to know why I was painting a blue room, blue. Well, I am not sure you can tell, but the previous blue (which was quite a lovely blue) was sort of a grayish, countryish looking color. I liked it but it seriously clashed with little Dylan's doggie decor. So... now you can all see why I chose to have the blue room painted a different shade of blue. There is a definite difference! It's so happy and cheery and BRIGHT! It's amazing what paint can do!

Giving credit where credit is due...

For everyone out there who was interested in our super cute Valentine bags/envelopes, Yes, they are like stockings, only with less stuff in them, more words of love and INCREDIBLY cute! My mother gets the credit for these fabulously new additions to our family. She made them for everyone in the family. I am so happy to have them! They are made out of felt and ribbon and quite sturdy. Levi loves them. He calls them "my heart". So thank you so much Mom! We love them!

Family Snow Outing

Hello everyone! We had a fabulous family togetherness day yesterday! The pictures are a little out of order, but I will try to share the events of our day. The above picture is the view from where our car got stuck in the snow! Isn't that exciting?? It definitely added to the excitement of the trip. Levi was so well behaved and agreeable all day long!
What a very cute little boy named Levi! I just love this little guy!
The highlight for Levi was seeing real snow! It was his first time. I realize that for all you people in Utah snow is not a novelty, however, for us it's a once a year thing and only if we travel to find it. Matt taught Levi about snowballs and Levi mastered that.
Here is our second snowman. The first one was smaller, but this one has character... my hat, fun fruit eyes and a carrot that Levi insisted we bring for our snowman. Building a snowman is quite hard, by the way. The snow is cold!! We hardly had the proper equipment for such a thing.
This was our first stop about an hour drive in to the day. There was a pretty little river down below. It was quite a beautiful day.
My handsome husband who orchestrated the whole day and got us ice cream on the way home. Plus, he found me a port-a-potty in the middle of the mountains. (After all I am having a baby in 25 days). Yes, Matt is wearing shorts. Truthfully it wasn't that cold out, so he was okay.
My favorite guys!
That would be Matthew digging our car out of the snow. We have front wheel drive and the front wheels were up off the ground and we were on ice, so we were stuck. (No, we did not bring the shovel, I am not that prepared.) We ended up getting two other guys to help push our car out.
The view from where we were stuck and ended up having our picnic, building our snowman and hanging out. It was a wonderful day!

Maternity Leave

Thank you, California, for having such a fabulous maternity leave policy! I am so grateful. Today is my last day of work and then I will get to hang out with little Levi for a month until little Dylan joins the world and then I get to play "stay at home mommy" for a while until I return to work sometime in June. I am kind of excited about all that. However, I am wondering what the motivation is to get up and get dressed each day when I'll just be home anyway. Stay-at-home-moms out there, why do you do it?? (Not stay home... I get that part... I meant get dressed). It just seems so much easier to not. Maybe I am just very pregnant and tired. Levi will keep me on my toes.
My fabulous husband assures me that I will be happy to return to work in June. I don't know. It's hard leaving a newborn and once Levi and I work out the kinks of being around each other 24/7, I am sure that we will enjoy our time together. I have a lot of fun things planned.
I'll keep you posted!

Painting Outside

We finally got a little sunshine! Yippee!! (It was raining for a very long time)
So I sent Levi outside to be creative with fabulous tempera paint. It washes off so nicely!
Levi had a great time!

LEVI'S LITTLE TABLE

The deal of the day: this cute table and stools for 50% off! What a deal! It's the perfect size for Levi and Dylan (when he is born and can sit up).

My musings...

I am sad that I don't have a picture to post at the moment, however, for the sake of those avid bloggers, I thought I would write some random thoughts that go through my mind.

I only have 4 more days of work left and then I go on maternity leave until June! I am so thrilled! Levi is too. He hates putting on clothes in the morning and wants to stay in his "warm jammies". I think it will be fun to stay at home. I should probably give Matt my credit and debit card each morning so I don't feel tempted to "window shop" while we whittle away the hours. Levi is very fond of the fishies at Walmart. Has anyone out there successfully managed to leave Walmart without a purchase??? (Mom, that doesn't include you). Not only that, but the See's candy store is fairly close to Walmart and Levi knows that store by sight and always wants to go to the "candy store". (I've raised my son well!!) And then there is ebay... Okay, we should just stop this discussion. I don't have time to be on the computer when I am at home anyhow. That is strictly a work thing... for some reason I always have down time at my job. Not because I am slacking off, it's actually because I am efficient. (Thank you, Matt... I do have a real job!)

Hello to all you pregnant women out there! I know you are all feeling as large as I am (if not larger since you are due before me). I forgot about this part of pregnancy. Luckily, they'll just cut me open for a c-section so I won't have to endure the part I do remember: labor & pushing. That is NO fun.

I think I've rambled enough. If I think of anything wonderful, witty or wise to share with you, I will. Until then... anyone have any brilliant ideas that "Penelope the Pirate" (trademarked...don't copy my idea) can go through in a childrens book?? Okay, that's all.
Love to you all! ~Shannon

A baby shower!

My coworkers gave me a baby shower! How so very nice! This is me and Errin (the friend who planned the party).

The only somewhat flattering picture of me. I am huge, so you can't see the other ones....

Just like Daddy...

Such handsome guys! Levi's tie is very similar to Matt's. They were twins and so proud of it!
Levi got a hooded sweat shirt just like Daddy's! He was very excited!
